General Anesthesia Control Mode Versus Local Anesthesia with Intravenous Sedation for Day Care Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation

open access: yesNational Journal of Community Medicine, 2011
Comparative study has been undertaken to evaluate the anaesthetic techniques either by General anaesthesia with control mode (GA) or Local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation (LA) in laparoscopic tubal ligation in 60 female patients in the age group ...

Sex- and stage-dependent expression of gonadal soma-derived factor paralogues reveals functional and evolutionary divergence in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
IntroductionThe gonadal soma-derived factor (Gsdf) is a member of the Transforming Growth Factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily, with key roles in teleost reproduction, particularly in males.

Sodium salt medium-chain fatty acids and Bacillus-based probiotic strategies to improve growth and intestinal health of gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2017
Background The increased demand for fish protein has led to the intensification of aquaculture practices which are hampered by nutritional and health factors affecting growth performance. To solve these problems, antibiotics have been used for many years

Characterisation and identification of ectomycorrhizae formed by the species of Asproinocybe (Tricholomataceae) and Inocybe (Inocybaceae) with the roots of the tropical sal tree Shorea robusta (Dipterocarpaceae)

open access: yesUkrainian Botanical Journal, 2021
In the course of the present study, surveys on occurrence and distribution of ectomycorrhizal (EcM) fungi in tropical sal forests of foothills of the Himalayas, India, were undertaken. The species of two genera of agarics, namely Asproinocybe and Inocybe,

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Combined Use of Metoclopramide and Glycopyrrolate as A Prophylactic Antiemetic in Elective Cesarean Section Under Spinal Anesthesia

open access: yesNational Journal of Community Medicine, 2011
Objective: To compare the combined effect of two traditional antiemetic drugs (metoclopramide and glycopyrrolate) against published data of effect of single antiemetic drug for prevention of nausea and vomiting in women undergoing lower section ...

Group-synchronous ovarian development, spawning and spermiation in the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) could be regulated by shifts in gonadal steroidogenesis

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2002
European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) is a species with group-synchronous ovarian development. A mechanism is required which enables maturation to occur in the first clutches of oocytes without inducing maturation in subsequent clutches.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Advancing Age Modulates Associations Between Cognitive Impairment and Brain Volumes in Early MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS), but manifestations following the first demyelinating event are relatively unexplored. We investigated cross‐sectional associations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)–derived brain volumes and the presence of cognitive impairment outcomes five years after the first ...

Predictive Ability of Plasma p‐tau217 for β‐Amyloid Status: A Prospective Multicenter Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma tau phosphorylated at threonine 217 (p‐tau217) measured with fully automated platforms has shown high accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis, but real‐world multicenter data remain limited. We aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of p‐tau217 for identifying AD pathology in a real‐world multicenter cohort ...
