Biochar Mitigates Salinity Stress in Potato
Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science, 2015AbstractA pot experiment was conducted in a climate‐controlled greenhouse to investigate the growth, physiology and yield of potato in response to salinity stress under biochar amendment. It was hypothesized that addition of biochar may improve plant growth and yield by mitigating the negative effect of salinity through its high sorption ability.

Osmolytes in salinity-stressed Iris hexagona
Acta Physiologiae Plantarum, 2008We characterize the salinity stress response of Iris hexagona, a freshwater species, by measuring three putative osmolytes, betaine, proline, and dimethylsulphonio-propionate (DMSP) in plants after short (3 days) and long-term (4–5 months) exposure to NaCl. HPLC analyses show that untreated control leaves contained 2.1, 0.2 and 3.2 mg g−1 DW of betaine,

Salinity and Drought Stress in Rice
1990Understanding the physiological responses of plants to saline soils and drought is more important today than ever before since genetic engineering is providing techniques by which these responses can be altered. This paper reviews some of the current ideas about how osmotic and ionic stresses affect plants, and about physiological adaptations that ...

Biochar Mitigates Salinity Stress in Plants
2017Salinity is a major problem in India. It not only hampers the growth of plant and productivity but also decreases the soil productivity. Some plants develop several mechanisms to cope up Salinity stress like ion regulation by Na/H antiporter; synthesis of amino acids like valine, aspartic acid, and proline; etc.

Cropping Pattern to Face Salinity Stress
2017In Egypt, salt-affected soils exist in 830,000 hectares located in the first, second and third agro-climatic zones. This area is distributed by 36, 23 and 8% in these three agro-climatic zones, respectively Develop cropping pattern under the condition of salt-affected soils require implementation of crop rotations to minimize the harm effects of ...

Wheat seedlings under of salinity stress
2019Salinity is one of the major problem in agriculture resulting in loss of yield and in fields it often occurs in the combination with drought. In plants, salinity causes both osmotic and ionic stress. Aside it causes the perturbations at morphological, physiological and biochemical level accumulation of NaCl in plants can be toxic for the plant. In this
