Strategy of Nannochloropsis Against Environment Starvation: Population Density and Crude Lipid Contents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nannochloropsis sp., an unicellular marine microalgae, has potential function as a food source for fish larvae and in chemical industry. Microenvironmental conditions, especially nitrogen and salinity stress in marine ecosystems, became major factor ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Transitioning From Soil‐Based to Soil‐Foliar Hybrid Application for Nitrogen Fertilizers Offers Energy‐Saving and Use‐Efficiency Benefits

open access: yesFood and Energy Security
Nitrogen (N) is the most important nutrient for crop plants to achieve their yield potential, yet it is also recognized as a major pollutant of the environment due to often‐excessive N‐fertilizer use.

Offsetting with Salinity Credits: An Alternative to Irrigation Zoning [PDF]

open access: yes
Irrigation induced salinity is a serious problem in many countries around the world. In Australia, this type of salinity is most pronounced in the valley of the River Murray in South Australia.

Evaluation of climate change effects in a coastal aquifer in Morocco using a density-dependent numerical model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A density-dependent numerical groundwater model was applied to study the climate change impact in a shallow aquifer in the Mediterranean coast of Morocco, the Saidia aquifer. The stresses imposed to the model were derived from the IPCC emission scenarios

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Performance of edible cactus (Opuntiaficus-indica) in saline environments

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2014
Edible cactus [Opuntiaficus-indica (L.) Mill.] has been used as fruit, vegetable, forage and wide range of commercial purposes in arid regions. It has high efficiency to produce biomass per unit water use due to specialized photosynthetic mechanism ...

Salinity Measurements Collected by Fishermen Reveal a “River in the Sea” Flowing Along the Eastern Coast of India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Being the only tropical ocean bounded by a continent to the north, the Indian Ocean is home to the most powerful monsoon system on Earth. Monsoonal rains and winds induce huge river discharges and strong coastal currents in the northern Bay of Bengal. To

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Effects of sodic water irrigation on growth, physiological relations and ion uptake in two Ziziphus rootstocks

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2018
We studied the effects of sodic irrigation on growth, physiological parameters and mineral partitioning in Zizyphus rotundifolia (ZR) and Z. spina-christi (ZS) seedlings used as rootstocks for Indian jujube scion cultivars.
