The adsorption of salivary proteins by hydroxyapatite and enamel
Archives of Oral Biology, 1967Abstract Evidence in the literature suggests that the acquired enamel pellicle forms on the tooth surface from precursors present in the saliva. The most simple explanation of its formation is by the adsorption of saliva proteins on to the enamel surface.

[ Immunoelectrophoretic study of salivary proteins].
Stomatologie der DDR, 1975The proteins in saliva samples from 60 individuals (subdivided into three age groups) were analysed immuno-electrophoretically to reveal possible relationships with periodontal disease and caries. No such relationship was established with regard to caries.
