Heritable Salivary Proteins and Dental Disease
Human Heredity, 1980A sample consisting of 92 black subjects was examined in this study. According to results of preliminary statistical tests there is a significant relationship between certain genetically determined salivary factors and individual susceptibility to dental disease in the racial group studied.

The Effect of Neuraminidase on the Properties of Salivary Proteins
Journal of Dental Research, 1972Neuraminidase rapidly cleaves sialic acid residues and increases the turbidity of human saliva. The isotherm for the adsorption of salivary proteins to hydroxyapatite is unchanged by preliminary treatment of the saliva or the hydroxyapatite with neuraminidase.

Salivary gland proteins of the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus
Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2000Several properties of the salivary glands of Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes were analysed. The amount of protein in female salivary glands increased from 0.26 microg on day one after emergence to about 1.4 microg on day seven. The major polypeptides found in the female salivary glands had molecular weights of 35.7, 28.3, and 20.5 kDa.

Interactions of Grape Seed Tannins with Salivary Proteins
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1998To evaluate the amount and type of condensed tannins binding salivary proteins, which are supposed to be involved in astringent sensation, model systems allowing further analyses of proteins and condensed tannins were developed. The precipitates formed after addition of grape seed tannins to salivary proteins indicate that a binding interaction occurs.
