Foodborne disease outbreaks linked to consumption of bakery products in Bhutan
Foodborne disease (FBD) is a global public health issue. Foodborne diseases are caused by consumption of contaminated foods. Food poisoning outbreaks associated with bakery stores have major public health significance and the common pathogen isolated ...

Salmonella Pathogenicity Island 1 (SPI-1) and Its Complex Regulatory Network
Salmonella species can infect a diverse range of birds, reptiles, and mammals, including humans. The type III protein secretion system (T3SS) encoded by Salmonella pathogenicity island 1 (SPI-1) delivers effector proteins required for intestinal invasion

Salmonella Virulence and Immune Escape
Salmonella genus represents the most common foodborne pathogens causing morbidity, mortality, and burden of disease in all regions of the world. The introduction of antimicrobial agents and Salmonella-specific phages has been considered as an effective ...

Aptamer-based Impedimetric Sensor for Bacterial Typing [PDF]
The development of an aptamer-based impedimetric sensor for typing of bacteria (AIST-B) is presented. Highly specific DNA aptamers to Salmonella enteritidis were selected via Cell-SELEX technique. Twelve rounds of selection were performed; each comprises a positive selection step against S. enteritidis and a negative selection step against a mixture of

Nontyphoid Salmonella empyema in a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Pleuropulmonary infections caused by nontyphoid Salmonella(NTS) are rare, but may develop in immunocompromised hosts. We report the case of a 56-year-old male with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus presenting with a multiloculated empyema due to NTS ...

Salmonella persisters undermine host immune defenses during antibiotic treatment
Actively persistent Salmonella A proportion of Salmonella cells can enter a reversible state of growth arrest, which allows them to tolerate environmental stress such as antibiotics. Stapels et al.

Intertransformability of Salmonella Simsbury and Salmonella senftenberg.
SummaryBy growth in serums it was possible to change S. Simsbury (I,III,-XIX:z27) S. Simsbury to S. senftenberg(I,III, XIX:g,s,t) and viceversa. The change was accomplished without difficulty but the reverse was done only by first transforming the H antigens to a hitherto unrecognized form (Z34) and then changing them to Z27.
