Salmonella Infection Level in Danish Indoor and Outdoor Pig Production Systems measured by Antbodies in Meat Juice and Faecal Shedding on-farm and at Slaughter [PDF]
The prevalence of Salmonella shedding was compared in 34 organic, conventional outdoor, and indoor pig herds. Individual faecal and meat juice samples from 30-50 pigs per herd were analysed for presence of Salmonella, and Salmonella antibodies ...

Crystal Structure and Functional Characterization of YjgK From Salmonella Typhimurium
ABSTRACT The YhcH/YjgK/YiaL (DUF386) family, widely conserved across bacterial species, is involved in essential cellular processes yet remains poorly characterized. YjgK from Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium has drawn attention because of its potential role in biofilm formation associated with metal homeostasis, which may be critical for ...

Gut Microbiota as a Mediator Between Intestinal Fibrosis and Creeping Fat in Crohn's Disease
ABSTRACT Intestinal stricture remains one of the most challenging complications in Crohn's disease, and its underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Accumulating evidence suggests that gut microbiota is significantly altered in stenotic intestines and may play a key role in the development of fibrogenesis in Crohn's disease.

Amylases and Their Importance during Glycan Degradation: Genome Sequence Release of Salmonella Amylase Knockout Strains. [PDF]
Amylases catalyze the cleavage of α-d-1,4 and α-d-1,6-glycosidic bonds in starch and related carbohydrates. Amylases are widely distributed in nature and are important in carbohydrate metabolism.

Review of published research on primary dysautonomia of domestic animals
Abstract An article published in 1992 by Marion M. Pollin and I.R. Griffiths reviewed the topic of primary dysautonomias of the autonomic nervous system of unidentified origin in multiple domestic species, specifically cats, dogs and horses. Thirty‐one years later, we appear no closer to identifying the causal agents of these strikingly similar ...

High‐throughput microfluidic real‐time PCR as a promising tool in disease ecology
This work highlights the diversity of disease ecology questions Htrt PCR could contribute to addressing in a given host–pathogen ecosystem. This tool could be used to answer a broad set of basic and applied questions in animal ecology, notably by providing a way to address issues involving communities of hosts and communities of pathogens.

Flagellins as Vaccine Adjuvants and Cancer Immunotherapy: Recent Advances and Future Prospects
The figure depicts the role of flagellin in immune cells. Flagellin interacts with TLR5, resulting in the formation of homodimers and the recruitment of MyD88, which activates the IκB and MAPK signalling pathways. This results in the activation of NF‐κB and AP‐1, producing TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐8, and IL‐12.
