Chemoenzymatic Total Synthesis of Lansai B

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Lansai B is an indole alkaloid whose biosynthesis is not yet elucidated. However, utilizing nature’s tools enabled the stereoselective formation of this unique framework, first by providing the substituted tryptophan as starting material and later in the scaffold‐building step forming the pyrroloindole motif.

Automated Acanthamoeba polyphaga detection and computation of Salmonella typhimurium concentration in spatio-temporal images [PDF]

open access: yesMicron (2011), 42, 911-920, 2010
Interactions between bacteria and protozoa is an increasing area of interest, however there are a few systems that allow extensive observation of the interactions. We examined a surface system consisting of non nutrient agar with a uniform bacterial lawn that extended over the agar surface, and a spatially localised central population of amoebae.

Disruption of salt bridge interactions in the inter‐domain cleft of the tubulin‐like protein FtsZ of Escherichia coli makes cells sensitive to the cell division inhibitor PC190723

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
Abstract FtsZ forms a ring‐like assembly at the site of division in bacteria. It is the first protein involved in the formation of the divisome complex to split the cell into two halves, indicating its importance in bacterial cell division. FtsZ is an attractive target for developing new anti‐microbial drugs to overcome the challenges of antibiotic ...

Evolution of pathogenicity islands of Salmonella enterica [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2004
Virulence genes located on pathogenicity islands play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Salmonella enterica infections. Salmonella pathogenicity islands (SPI) contribute to host cell invasion and intracellular pathogenesis. At present, 12 SPI have been described.

Genome Sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica Strain Durban [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Announcements, 2014
ABSTRACT We report the genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica strain Durban, isolated from a patient with salmonellosis and typhoid fever. The strain is closely related to S. enterica subsp.

Isolation of Salmonella enterica in opossum (Didelphis aurita and Didelphis albiventris) of the São Paulo State, Brazil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
No Brasil, não há relato de estudos de Salmonella em gambás, sendo assim, este trabalho tem por objetivo determinar a frequência de isolamento de Salmonella enterica em gambás (D. aurita e D. albiventris) no Estado de São Paulo.

Electrochemical sensing strategies for on‐site testing of pathogenic nucleic acids

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Rapid and reliable on‐site pathogen testing is crucial for diagnosing and managing human health. Nucleic acids (NAs) containing genetic information are valuable target molecules for pathogen testing, and sensitive and rapid detection of NAs using electrochemical approaches has been intensively investigated.

Salmonella enterica serovar virulence clusters

open access: yes, 2023
The serovars of Salmonella enterica display dramatic differences in pathogenesis and host preferences. We developed a process (patent pending) for grouping Salmonella isolates and serovars by their public health risk. We collated a curated set of 12,337 S. enterica isolate genomes from human, beef, and bovine sources in the US.

Salmonella serovars in laying hen flocks and commercial table eggs from a region of São Paulo state, Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science, 2014
Salmonella spp. is the main originator of human foodborne diseases worldwide and is mainly transmitted by food containing eggs. In Brazil, as a result of the lack of studies and data collection very little is known about the prevalence of Salmonella spp.

IID Sampling from Intractable Distributions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We propose a novel methodology for drawing iid realizations from any target distribution on the Euclidean space with arbitrary dimension. No assumption of compact support is necessary for the validity of our theory and method. Our idea is to construct an appropriate infinite sequence of concentric closed ellipsoids, represent the target distribution as
