Isolation of Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Paratyphi B dT+, or Salmonella Java, from Indonesia and alteration of the d-tartrate fermentation phenotype by disrupting the ORF STM 3356

open access: yes, 2006
Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Paratyphi B [O1,4,(5),12?:?Hb?:?1,2] can cause either an enteric fever (paratyphoid fever) or self-limiting gastroenteritis in humans. The d-tartrate non-fermenting variant S. enterica subsp.

Paratyphoid Fever A: Infection and Prevention

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Enteric fever is caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi, Salmonella enterica serovar Paratyphi A, B, and C. While S. Typhi remains the primary causative agent of enteric fever, S. Paratyphi A is responsible for an increasing portion of enteric fever

Ultra-fast and sensitive detection of non-typhoidal Salmonella using microwave-accelerated metal-enhanced fluorescence ("MAMEF"). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Certain serovars of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica cause invasive disease (e.g., enteric fever, bacteremia, septicemia, meningitis, etc.) in humans and constitute a global public health problem.

Darkling beetles (Alphitobius diaperinus) and their larvae as potential vectors for the transfer of Campylobacter jejuni and Salmonella enterica serovar paratyphi B variant Java between successive broiler flocks

open access: yes, 2008
Broiler flocks often become infected with Campylobacter and Salmonella, and the exact contamination routes are still not fully understood. Insects like darkling beetles and their larvae may play a role in transfer of the pathogens between consecutive ...

Genomic Insights Into Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Acquired Azithromycin Resistance Genes in Salmonella Strains Worldwide

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Azithromycin has been used for clinical invasive infections caused by fluoroquinolone‐ and third‐generation cephalosporin‐resistant Salmonella, and mass drug administration with azithromycin has been used to reduce under‐5 mortality in children in some countries.

Prevalence and antibiotic resistance of Salmonella spp. in South Punjab-Pakistan.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Present study aimed at investigating the magnitude of the prevalence and antibiotic resistance among four Salmonella spp. i.e., S. typhi, S. paratyphi A, S. paratyphi B and S. typhimurium.

Genetic Markers in S. Paratyphi C Reveal Primary Adaptation to Pigs

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
Salmonella enterica with the identical antigenic formula 6,7:c:1,5 can be differentiated biochemically and by disease syndrome. One grouping, Salmonella Paratyphi C, is currently considered a typhoidal serovar, responsible for enteric fever in humans ...

Duplex Recombinase Polymerase Amplification‐Lateral Flow Assay for Rapid Visual Detection of Critical Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae From Positive Blood Cultures

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study developed a pair of duplex RPA‐LFA assays for the simultaneous detection of critical resistance genes, blaCTX‐M/mcr‐1 and blaoxa‐48‐like/blaNDM, from hemoculture samples. Under optimized conditions, duplex RPA was performed at 37°C–38°C for 25 min, followed by LFA for 10–15 min.

Effect of gamma irradiation and storage days on physicochemical, sensory, and microbial quality of pineapple (Ananas comosus) fresh cut under refrigeration

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fresh‐cut pineapple is increasingly consumed for its convenience and nutritional value; however, minimal processing accelerates quality deterioration and microbial growth, resulting in substantial postharvest losses. Gamma irradiation is recognized as a nonthermal preservation technique, but limited information exists regarding its ...

Snake Gut Microbiota as a Source of Anti‐Inflammatory Probiotics: Isolation and Functional Characterization of Two Novel Strains

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study assessed the probiotic potential of intestinal microbiomes from five snake species using metagenomics and in vitro isolation, identifying two promising strains (Lactobacillus johnsonii DA0116 and Limosilactobacillus reuteri DA0218) through comprehensive screening.
