Transgenerational Obesity Modulation of Gut Mucosal Immunity

Western diet (WD) intake decreases the density of both gut innate (Paneth cells) and adaptive immune cells (intraepithelial lymphocytes; IEL). More importantly, healthy dietary choice (standard diet, SD) reverses the density of Paneth cells, but not IELs, in offspring (F1) from dams fed with WD.
