Recovery of salt co-products during the salt production from brine

Desalination, 2005
Abstract Sodium chloride and the secondary salts, such as sylvite, mirabilite, thenardite, bloedite, carnalite, bischofite, kieserite and polyhalite are not only mined from evaporate deposits, but they have also been produced more economically by solar concentration of brines for centuries.

Salt-production at Kibiro

Azania: Archaeological Research in Africa, 1990
Abstract Salt-making at Kibiro, on the Ugandan shore of Lake Albert, is still carried out in a way that appears to have changed little over the years. Salt is produced exclusively by women, who boil brine obtained from leaching saline earth, the salt in which originates from several hot springs at the base of the Western Rift escarpment.

Modeling productivity of a salt marsh

Cell Biophysics, 1987
A model of primary productivity in a salt marsh is developed and compared to a regression analysis study of data showing dependence of growth on growing season, mean tidal height, and average monthly temperatures for several grass species.

Buffalo meat as a salted and cured product

Meat Science, 2000
Bresaola, a GPI product, is produced by salting and curing different cuts of the hindquarters of lean bovine meat. The use of buffalo meat to produce similar processed, cold-cut products demonstrated the possibility of transforming cuts of buffalo rump into a product similar to that of beef, even considering parameters that penalise the buffalo product

salted fish products

2017
The Mediterranean Sea dominated Greco-Roman society in many ways, but none more importantly than as a source of food. Early Punic settlers in the West and later Greeks and Romans, motivated by the need for long-term storage and commercial transportation of highly spoilable marine products, developed methods for salting fish that have persisted, albeit ...

Product Class 12: Alkylphosphonium Salts

2009
This chapter surveys phosphonium and heterophosphonium salts and related classes, where one or more alkyl groups are directly bound to the phosphorus atom. It also includes alpha-, beta-, and gamma-functionalized alkyl substituents. The last part of this chapter describes the synthesis of cyclic as well as multi- or polymeric phosphonium salts.

Towards the Production of Salt-Tolerant Crops

1999
Crop production is affected by numerous environmental factors, with soil salinity and drought having the most detrimental effects. Attempts to improve yield under stress conditions by plant breeding have been unsuccessful, primarily due to the multigenic origin of the adaptive responses.

Production of fluoridated salt.

Schweizer Monatsschrift fur Zahnmedizin = Revue mensuelle suisse d'odonto-stomatologie = Rivista mensile svizzera di odontologia e stomatologia, 2006
Sodium and potassium fluoride are used for the fluoridation of household salt. Addition of fluoride is carried out either by the wet or the dry process. Qualitatively good fluoridated salt can be produced by using either method. In the wet process, a solution of potassium fluoride is mixed homogeneously with the salt.
