Temperature sensing: A potassium channel as cold sensor in the rain tree Samanea saman

Current Biology, 2023
The rain tree Samanea saman folds its leaves upon rainfall. New results now indicate that rain perception is in fact a temperature-sensing process, and that Samanea possess an ion channel with a strong temperature sensitivity that is involved in leaf movement.

Samanea saman: A Novel Mucoadhesive Gum

Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, 2021
Natural polymers are the most accepted pharmaceutical excipients of formulator’s choice. The reasons for this are their cost effectiveness, biocompatibility and availability. In this research article natural gum was extracted from the seeds of Samanea saman by using ethanol as a solvent.

Isolation of soluble metabolites of the phosphatidylinositol cycle from Samanea saman

Plant Cell Reports, 1987
An improved protocol for the separation of inositol phosphates by high performance liquid chromatography was used to resolve inositol phosphates from pulvini (motor organs) of the legume, Samanea saman. The pulvini contained inositol phosphate, inositol bisphosphate, and inositol trisphosphate isomers which co-migrated with those of mammalian red blood

PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING OF ETHANOL EXTRACT OF TREMBESI FRUIT SEEDS (Samanea saman)

Science and Community Pharmacy Journal, 2022
Trembesi (Samanea saman) is a fast-growing plant from Central America and Northern South America. the Trembesi Tree is an easily recognize tree because it has an umbrella-shaped canopy with a canopy diameter greater than its height, the trembesi fruit is blackish-brown when ripe, with seeds embedded in the flesh of the fruit.

Enhanced forage production under Samanea saman in a subhumid tropical grassland

Agroforestry Systems, 2002
The effects of isolated, mature Samanea saman trees on herbaceous production and species composition were investigated over the 1993/1994 growing season in a subhumid tropical grassland in north-east Queensland, Australia. Under the crown, the cumulative aboveground biomass over the season was almost 90% above that of the open grassland.
