The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

On the synthesis methodologies to prepare Pb$_9$Cu(PO$_4$)$_6$O -- phase, composition, magnetic analysis and absence of superconductivity [PDF]
We present the results of our various attempts to prepare the presumably room-temperature and ambient-pressure superconducting compound Pb$_9$Cu(PO$_4$)$_6$O (LK-99). We experimented with various starting materials, and used several synthesis techniques like, sealed quartz tubes and air-sintering pathways to prepare the reported phase.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...

Structural anisotropy of silica hydrogels prepared under magnetic field [PDF]
Birefringence measurements have been carried out on the Pb-doped silica hydrogels prepared under various magnetic fields up to 5T. The silica gels prepared at 5T were used as a medium of crystal growth of PbBr2, whose result implied the structural anisotropy; an aligned array of crystallites was obtained by transmission electron microscopy.

Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Evolution of superconductivity in LaO1-xFxBiS2 prepared by high pressure technique [PDF]
Novel BiS2-based superconductors LaO1-xFxBiS2 prepared by the high pressure synthesis technique were systematically studied. It was found that the high pressure annealing strongly the lattice as compared to the LaO1-xFxBiS2 samples prepared by conventional solid state reaction at ambient pressure.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Sample preparation and processing
Errors made during the sample preparative process contribute significantly to the total analytical error of immunoassays. Reduction in the magnitude of these errors have been made by improvements in the manualfluid handling systems and mechanization of the individual steps in the process.

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...
