Tracking Microwave-Assisted Sample Preparation Through the Last Years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sample preparation assisted by microwave irradiation has noticeablyincreased over the past decade, reducing the time spent on this step, due toits heating mechanism. The daily laboratory analysis has benefited from the useof microwave-assisted processes,

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Assessing the potentialities of an easy-to-use sample treatment strategy: Multivariate investigation on “Moka extraction” of typical ingredients from dietary supplements

open access: yesAdvances in Sample Preparation
Mr. Bialetti invented Moka in 1933 and it still represents the most common way to prepare coffee at home. The process through which Mokas extract components from the ground coffee is a solid-liquid extraction which occurs at high pressure and temperature.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
