Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

Novel wire grid embedded C-sandwich radome structures for broadband airborne applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The application of symmetric wire grid structures for the broadbanding of C-sandwich radome panel, with core thickness optimized for power transmission, is presented. The performance parameters of wire grid embedded C-sandwich wall are evaluated based on

An interpretation of Robinson-Trautman type N solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The Robinson-Trautman type N solutions, which describe expanding gravitational waves, are investigated for all possible values of the cosmological constant Lambda and the curvature parameter epsilon.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Novel bis-arene (Sandwich) Complexes with NO\u3csup\u3e+\u3c/sup\u3e Acceptor. Isolation, X-ray Crystallography and Electronic Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The unusual charge-transfer complexes of various arene donors (ArH) with the nitrosonium cation (NO+) resulting from bimolecular [1 ∶ 1] associations can be extended at suitably high ArH concentrations to termolecular processes leading to the analogous ...

Tuning and Switching a Plasmonic Quantum Dot Sandwich in a Nematic Line Defect

open access: yes, 2017
We study the quantum-mechanical effects arising in a single semiconductor core/shell quantum dot controllably sandwiched between two plasmonic nanorods.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Sandwich semigroups in locally small categories I: Foundations

open access: yes, 2018
Fix (not necessarily distinct) objects $i$ and $j$ of a locally small category $S$, and write $S_{ij}$ for the set of all morphisms $i\to j$. Fix a morphism $a\in S_{ji}$, and define an operation $\star_a$ on $S_{ij}$ by $x\star_ay=xay$ for all $x,y\in ...

Mechanical Characteristics of Sandwich Structures with 3D-Printed Bio-Inspired Gyroid Structure Core and Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Laminate Face-Sheet

open access: yesPolymers
The gyroid structure is a bio-inspired structure that was discovered in butterfly wings. The geometric design of the gyroid structure in butterfly wings offers a unique combination of strength and flexibility.

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.
