Patients who undergo liver transplantation go from being very sick to reclaiming their lives. It’s a rapid and rewarding transformation. The notion that there are still places in the world where this surgery isn’t available is a problem.

tau- -> K+ K- pi- nu_tau at CLEO III
Based on 3.26 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected at CLEO III, we study the decay $\tau^-\to K^+K^-\pi^-\nu_\tau$, and improve the measurement of the branching ratio ${\cal B}(\tau^-\to K^+K^-\pi^-\nu_\tau)= (1.59\pm0.06\pm0.13)\times10^{-3}$, the results ...

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

FCNC Top Quark Production via Anomalous Couplings [PDF]
We calculate flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes with top-quark production via anomalous couplings at LHC energies. We report on progress on the FCNC processes gu -> tZ, gu -> t gamma and gu -> tg. We go beyond leading order and include soft-

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Soils and paleosoils of the Galapagos Islands : what we know and what we don't know, a meta-analysis [PDF]
Accessible information on Galapagos soils is very limited. Much of the existing, although still scarce, information is several decades old and not easily retrieved. The aim of this paper is to present a critical synthesis.
