Modeling Potential Impacts of Planting Palms or Tree in Small Holder Fruit Plantations on Ecohydrological Processes in the Central Amazon [PDF]

open access: yesForests, 2015
Native fruiting plants are widely cultivated in the Amazon, but little information on their water use characteristics can be found in the literature. To explore the potential impacts of plantations on local to regional water balance, we studied plant ...

Ethanol and biomass from Palmyra palm sap

Biotechnology Letters, 1986
A strain ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae, Y18, has been isolated and characterized for the production of ethanol and biomass from the sap of Palmyra palm. The ethanol and biomass produced by Y18 in batch cultures without aeration were 70 g/L and 6 g/L respectively, from saps containing 150 g/L of sucrose. Under aerobic conditions, the biomass produced was 0.

Development of sap compressing systems from oil palm trunk

Biomass and Bioenergy, 2013
Abstract In an attempt to utilize felled palm trunks, we found that they contain a large quantity of sap, and that abundant glucose and other fermentable sugars exist in the sap. In this study, we developed a prototype system for compressing the sap from oil palm trunks; it is composed of a rotary lathe, a shredder, and a compressing mill.

Sugars of the unfermented sap and the wine from the oil palm,Elaeis guinensis, tree

Plant Foods for Human Nutrition, 1988
The sugar composition of the unfermented sap from oil palm (Elaeis guinensis) trees growing in the plantations of the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research, Benin City, has been determined. While sucrose concentration ranges from 9.59 to 10.59% (w/v) in the pure unfermented sap, that of either glucose or fructose is much less than 1% (w/v) (0.13-0 ...

Detoxification of Sap from Felled Oil Palm Trunks for the Efficient Production of Lactic Acid

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2017
The availability of fermentable sugars in high concentrations in the sap of felled oil palm trunks and the thermophilic nature of the recently isolated Bacillus coagulans strain 191 were exploited for lactic acid production under non-sterile conditions.

THE STUDY ON TA VAT WINE PRODUCTION FROM SUGAR PALM (ARENGA PINNATA) SAP

Hue University Journal of Science: Agriculture and Rural Development, 2014
Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) is a feather palm native to tropical Asia. In Vietnam, it is named Búng Báng or Đoác and grown only on the highlands in the central or northern part of Vietnam. It is utilized for many purposes, especially for Ta Vat wine production - a characteristic and unique product of Co Tu ethnic minority.

Characterisation of proteins from date palm sap (Phoenix dactylifera L.) by a proteomic approach

Food Chemistry, 2010
The proteins contained in juice tapped from date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.), from Deglet Nour variety, were analysed by the application of two-dimensional electrophoresis (2DE). Identification was carried out by mass spectrometry analyses. The SDS–PAGE patterns showed more than 100 spots of which 52 spots were identified.

Caramel production from saps of African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) and wine palm (Raphia hookeri) trees

Bioresource Technology, 2000
Abstract The saps of the African oil palm ( Elaeis guineensis ), and the wine palm ( Raphia hookeri ), tapped and consumed locally as beverage, were analysed and processed into caramel by acid-heat treatment. The saps, rich in sugars were boiled for 1 h, diluted and filtered.
