Lipid production by Lipomyces starkeyi using sap squeezed from felled old oil palm trunks

Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2019
The ability of oleaginous yeast Lipomyces starkeyi to efficiently produce lipids when cultivated on sap extracted from felled oil palm trunk (OPT) as a novel inexpensive renewable carbon source was evaluated. OPT sap was found to contain approximately 98 g/L glucose and 32 g/L fructose.

Ethanol and lactic acid production using sap squeezed from old oil palm trunks felled for replanting

Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2010
Old oil palm trunks that had been felled for replanting were found to contain large quantities of high glucose content sap. Notably, the sap in the inner part of the trunk accounted for more than 80% of the whole trunk weight. The glucose concentration of the sap from the inner part was 85.2g/L and decreased towards the outer part.

Optimization Study on Bioethanol Production from the Fermentation of Oil Palm Trunk Sap as Agricultural Waste

2013
The utilization of oil palm trunk sap as an alternative agricultural waste resource for bioethanol production was investigated. The effects of temperature (25–40 °C), initial pH (3–7), agitation rate (110–250 rpm), and percentage inoculums (5–15 % v/v) on bioethanol yield were identified using modified face-centered central composite design (modified ...
