Saponification of Polymethylacrylate
ポリアクリル酸メチルの鹸化機構を明らかにする目的で実験を行い, 次の結果を得た。平均重合度2780と124のポリマーのアルカリ鹸化速度はほぼ同一である。部分鹸化物のアルカリ再鹸化速度は鹸化度のみならず生成条件により異なり, 部分鹸化分子中におけるアクリル酸基とアクリル酸エステル基の両基本分子の配列状態が, 相違すると考えられる。酸鹸化反応はエステル基に関する簡単な1分子式でほぼ表し得るが, 速度定数は構造類似の低分子エステルよりはなはだしく小さい。鹸化溶液の粘度は反応の進行に伴って変化し, 粘度変化の程度は反応液の組成により異なる。これらの事実は既報の鹸化機構を支持する。ポリアクリル酸ブチルもポリアクリル酸メチルと同様の機構により鹸化が行われる。
