Rapid and Ultra‐Sensitive SARS‐CoV‐2 Subgenomic RNA Detection Using Single‐Molecule With a Large Transistor‐SiMoT Bioelectronic Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The single‐molecule with a large transistor‐SiMoT is proposed for the detection of the subgenomic RNA of SARS‐CoV‐2, achieving a diagnostic sensitivity of 98.0% and a specificity of 87.8%. The SiMoT technology, currently at TRL‐5, is suitable for point‐of‐care settings and delivers the result to the end user in 30 min.

A gut microbiota‐bile acid axis inhibits the infection of an emerging coronavirus by targeting its cellular receptor aminopeptidase N

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis employs bile salt hydrolase to reprogram host bile acid metabolism, generating lithocholic acid that directly blocks porcine deltacoronavirus infection by disrupting spike protein‐aminopeptidase N binding, defining a microbiota‐bile acid antiviral axis with therapeutic potential against coronaviruses.

Production of L-serine by Sarcina albida [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1979
Conditions for the production of microbial L-serine hydroxymethyltransferase and for the conversion of glycine to L-serine were studied. A number of microorganisms were screened for their abilities to form and accululate L-serine from glycine, and Sarcina albida was selected as the best organism.
