Isolation and characterization of cardiac sarcolemma
Biochimica Et Biophysica Acta - Biomembranes, 1979A procedure was developed for the isolation of cardiac sarcolemmal vesicles. These vesicles are enriched about ten-fold (with respect to the tissue homogenate) in K+-stimulated p-nitrophenylphosphatase, (Na+ + K+)-ATPase, 5'-nucleotidase activities and sialic acid content, all of which are believed to be components of the sarcolemma.

Biophysical analysis of the mechanical properties of the sarcolemma [PDF]
This paper attempts to explain the complex mechanical properties of the sarcolemma of single muscle fibers. Previously published measurements on retraction zones of frog semitendinosus fibers were used as a basis for computation. A somewhat slack system of helical fibers in the sarcolemma can adequately account for the observations.

Characterization of rat myocardial sarcolemma
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 1981Sarcolemma (SL) was isolated from the hearts of rats by the procedure of Philipson et al. and was found to be of high purity by the use of electron microscopy and marker enzyme analysis. In the SL fraction the sarcolemmal marker enzyme Na+, K+-ATPase was enriched about 33-fold (without SDS stimulation) compared to the crude homogenate.

Science, 1981Marked changes were observed in the lipid composition of highly purified plasma membranes isolated from the hearts of rats subjected to daily treadmill running.
