Thirty-four cases of uterine sarcoma were studied with regard to their pathologic characteristics and response to treatment. Pathologic features did not always correlate with subsequent course. Combined therapy seems to enhance two-year survival in endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS), although some patients may have low-grade tumors and hence represent a

In this study a review of malignancies classified as histiocytic in the literature is given. The available data suggest that a distinction can be made between three main categories, i.e., follicular dendritic cell (FDC) sarcomas, Langerhans' cell/interdigiting reticulum cell (LC/IRC) sarcomas and histiocytic sarcomas (HS) which are unrelated to ...

Retroperitoneal sarcomas are a rare and highly malignant group of tumors. Because of their anatomical location, they often reach a large size before detection and are difficult to diagnose clinically because of nonspecific symptoms. After surgical resection, the tumors display a high rate of recurrence, thus requiring long-term and often indefinite ...

The literature on radiotherapy for sarcomas originating in bone is limited, and the disease is uncommon. Consequently, this review is based on only 28 scientific articles, including 6 randomized studies, I prospective study, and II retrospective studies. These studies involve 1,394 patients.

Abstract Ewing's sarcoma, a rare neoplasm that usually occurs in persons under 25 years of age, is considered the most lethal of all bone tumors. Treatment usually consists of radiation therapy. Although the value of prophylactic chemotherapy has not been established, encouraging results have been achieved with the use of Cytoxan at periodic ...

AbstractSarcomas of the uterus, ovary and lower genital tract are fortunately rare, since the prognosis is quite often poor. The most frequent are sarcomas of the uterine corpus, and these account for only 4% of all uterine tumors. Ovarian sarcomas are less frequent, and the prognosis is even poorer when compared to the uterus.

We report a case of fibrosarcoma arising in the pineal of a 36-year-old female patient. She died at the age 43 following biopsy, radiation therapy, tumor resection, chemotherapy, and stereotactic radiosurgery. Light microscopic study of all tissues obtained, including immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy of surgically resected tumor and ...

An aggressive form of Kaposi's sarcoma has been reported in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Although pulmonary symptoms may constitute the initial complaint, Kaposi's sarcoma is generally detected because of cutaneous lesions. The chest radiograph reveals a distinctive, poorly marginated, nodular pattern in the lungs.
