An animal model of SARS produced by infection of Macaca mulatta with SARS coronavirus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A new SARS animal model was established by inoculating SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) into rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) through the nasal cavity. Pathological pulmonary changes were successively detected on days 5-60 after virus inoculation.

Host‐Directed Antiviral Activity of SB2960 Through Selective Induction and Remodeling of Stress Granules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amid the ongoing threat of emerging viral pathogens, host‐directed antivirals offer a strategy to overcome viral mutation and drug resistance. SB2960, a small‐molecule inducer of stress granules (SGs), exhibits potent broad‐spectrum antiviral activity with minimal cytotoxicity.

Sars-Cov-2 Virus and Eye

open access: yesOpen Access Journal of Ophthalmology, 2022
It is a minireview about the impact of SARS COVID-19 pandemia on Ophthalmology. Since 1990’s this virus was studied and some researchers showed its retinotropism. Nowadays, according to the World Health Organization guidelines, we explain how Italian ophthalmologist and nurses faced the effect of this pandemia on our daily work.

Immunization with SARS Coronavirus Vaccines Leads to Pulmonary Immunopathology on Challenge with the SARS Virus

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Background Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) emerged in China in 2002 and spread to other countries before brought under control. Because of a concern for reemergence or a deliberate release of the SARS coronavirus, vaccine development was ...

Engineering Adaptive Immunity in 3D: A Patient‐Specific Lymphoid Model Using Stromal Networks and Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a 3D lymphoid tissue model engineered from adipose‐derived stem cells differentiated into fibroblastic reticular cell–like networks and co‐cultured with immune cells. The engineered system successfully generates antigen‐specific antibodies and cytokine responses, providing a platform for studying adaptive immunity, vaccine efficacy,

A Modular Vaccine Platform Against SARS‐CoV‐2 Based on Self‐Assembled Protein Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A modular BP26 nanoparticle vaccine platform incorporating the SpyTag/SpyCatcher system enables high‐density, repetitive antigen display with post‐expression flexibility. Conjugation of the SARS‐CoV‐2 RBD to BP26 nanoparticles elicits strong humoral immunity and confers protection against viral challenge in vivo.

CRISPR in MOF Formulation with Enhanced Stability, Activity, and Altered PAM Specificity for Broad‐Spectrum Diagnosis of Bacterial Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CRISPR‐FLEXMO (CRISPR with flexible PAM in MOF encapsulation) integrates a PAM‐relaxed Cas12a K607R enzyme with a manganese‐coordinated MOF for broad‐spectrum diagnosis of bacterial sepsis. The MOF enhances activity and preserves functionality under heat, solvent, and chaotropic stress, supporting long‐term room‐temperature storage.
