The Impact of Cosmic Filaments on the Abundance of Satellite Galaxies
The impact of cosmic web environments on galaxy properties plays a critical role in understanding galaxy formation. Using the state-of-the-art cosmological simulation IllustrisTNG, we investigate how satellite galaxy abundance differs between filaments ...

Galaxy satellites and the weak equivalence principle [PDF]
Numerical simulations of the effect of a long-range scalar interaction (LRSI) acting only on nonbaryonic dark matter, with strength comparable to gravity, show patterns of disruption of satellites that can agree with what is seen in the Milky Way. This includes the symmetric Sagittarius stellar stream.

Germanium‐Based Mid‐Infrared Integrated Photonics
The mid‐infrared (mid‐IR) spectral range is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum in which most of the molecules have vibrational and rotational resonances. Photonics integration in this wavelength range have thus seen a burst of interest in the recent years, mainly driven by applications related with the detection of chemical and biological ...

Satellite systems around galaxies in hydrodynamic simulations [PDF]
We investigate the properties of satellite galaxies formed in N-body/SPH simulations of galaxy formation in the $ $CDM cosmology. The simulations include the main physical effects thought to be important in galaxy formation and, in several cases, produce realistic spiral discs. In total, a sample of 9 galaxies of luminosity comparable to the Milky Way

Investigating the Kinematics of Central and Satellite Galaxies Using Normalizing Flows
Galaxy clustering contains information on cosmology, galaxy evolution, and the relationship between galaxies and their dark matter hosts. On small scales, the detailed kinematics of galaxies within their host halos determines the galaxy clustering.

The Dynamics of Satellite Galaxies [PDF]
We use the positions and velocities of satellites of our galaxy and of other spiral galaxies to determine the radial mass profile of dark matter halos. We combine our measurement of the velocities of five remote Galactic satellites with published observations of the other Galactic satellites to obtain a complete sample of test particles.
