Effect of training on the reliability of satiety evaluation and use of trained panellists to determine the satiety effect of dietary fibre: a randomised controlled trial.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
BackgroundThe assessment of satiety effects on foods is commonly performed by untrained volunteers marking their perceived hunger or fullness on line scales, marked with pre-set descriptors.

On the state-dependent nature of odor perception

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
The olfactory system—and odor perception by extension—is susceptible to state-dependent influences. This review delves into human behavioral research in this area, and also touches on mechanistic evidence and examples from animal work.

Satiety value of groats in healthy women as affected by selected physicochemical parameters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2018
The aim of the study was to investigate the satiety levels following the consumption of groats and to analyze the relationships between selected nutrients found in the groats. A total of 54 women were enrolled in a crossover, single-blind study.

The influence of eating rate on satiety and intake among participants exhibiting high dietary restraint

open access: yesFood & Nutrition Research, 2012
Studies show inconsistent results with regards to whether eating slower can enhance satiety and reduce intake in a meal. Some methodological differences are apparent and could potentially explain why results are not consistent across studies. To determine

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.
