Design alternatives for parallel saturating multioperand adders
Proceedings 2001 IEEE International Conference on Computer Design: VLSI in Computers and Processors. ICCD 2001, 2002Parallel saturating multioperand adders significantly improve the performance of global system for mobile (GSM) speech coders by giving compilers and assembly language programmers the ability to parallelize loops containing saturating dot products, while maintaining GSM compliant results.

Design of Actuator Saturation Compensators for Absolute Stability
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1995Abstract Actuator saturation is a common problem in practical control systems. Existing saturation compensation schemes are often derived with little consideration for the stability of the closed-loop system. An approach to design a compensator for a given system such that the compensated system is absolute stable is presented.

Dynamic anti-windup design in anticipation of actuator saturation
Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011SUMMARYIn a traditional anti‐windup design, the anti‐windup mechanism is set to be activated as soon as the control signal saturates the actuator. A recent innovation of delaying the activation of the anti‐windup mechanism, both static and dynamic, until the saturation reaches a certain level of severity has led to a performance improvement of the ...

Nonparametric Testing of Saturated D-optimal Designs
2014In this paper we propose a modification of the Loughin–Noble permutation test of significance of factorial effects for unreplicated orthogonal factorial designs, Loughin and Noble (Technometrics 39(2):180–190, 1997), when orthogonal factorial designs are replaced by D-optimal saturated designs.

Saturable reactor design and characteristic simulation
2011 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011For the needs of suppression of the current changing rate of the high voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) converter valve, a saturable reactor is designed by using the analytical approach combined with the magnetic field approach. The 3-D finite element method is involved to get the inductance-current (L-I) characteristic curve.

Saturation Diving System Design Considerations
Journal of Hydronautics, 1968At the outset of a saturation diving mission, a selection of the basic diving system to safely accomplish the tasks involved must be made. The main components, deck decompression chamber (DDC) and submersible decompression chamber (SDC), are designed as conventional pressure vessels, though special attention is now being given to hatches, viewports ...

Fracture Design in Liquid-Saturated Reservoirs
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1963Abstract This paper presents methods of designing hydraulic fracture treatments in formations saturated with slightly compressible liquids. Howard and Fast describe the fluidloss control resulting from the viscosity and compressibility effects of the reservoir fluid in terms of a fracturing fluid coefficient ...

Collapse Mechanisms and Design Considerations for Some Partly Saturated and Saturated Soils
1995Based on a few case studies, the causes and mechanisms of collapse are examined for different types of soil including soft sensitive clays., loose unsaturated or saturated sands or silty sands, and loess. Due to their open and sometimes metastable structure, these soils are all susceptible to collapse under certain conditions either upon wetting or ...
