Investigation of 3D printed Savonius rotor performance
Abstract In this study increasing the performance of Conventional Savonius wind rotor has been investigated by a 3D (three dimensional) printer which is one of the rapid prototyping techniques. For this purpose, some design changes have been introduced to increase the performance of conventional Savonius wind rotor.

Aerodynamic Performance Investigations of Savonius Twin-rotor Wind Turbines [PDF]
The aim of this study is to evaluate the aerodynamic efficiency of a Savonius vertical-axis wind turbine. The approach used relies on resolving the Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations (URANS), the turbulence being modeled by the k-ω SST ...

Influence of tilt angle and the number of guide vane blades towards the Savonius rotor performance
Additional guide vane (GV) to the Savonius rotor is used to overcome the low rotor efficiency. This study is experimentally carried out to know the influence of guide vane in improving two blades Savonius rotor performance.

Design and construction of Savonius rotor [PDF]
Renewable energy sources have been researched for more than a century now. Wind energy; which is often characterized as an unreliable source of energy, is not unreliable if placed at places with smooth wind currents. Savonius rotor as Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) can be used as a standalone power generation device because of its low cost, low cut ...

Improved performances of the wind inlet of the Savonius rotor [PDF]
In this study we analyzed the design changes through increasing vertical angles of the top and bottom plates of the wind inlet of a Savonius rotor, in order to obtain better results and better system performances. A designed wind inlet is placed in the front part of the rotor in order to prevent negative torque opposing rotor rotation.
