Dependence of Power Characteristics on Savonius Rotor Segmentation
Savonius rotors are large and heavy because they use drag force for propulsion. This leads to a larger investment in comparison to horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) rotors using lift forces.

Performance of Savonius Rotor with Slits in the Blades.
This paper is focused on the improvement of the performance of the Savonius rotor. For this purpose, the flow inside and outside the rotor is observed by means of a flow visualization method. The behavior of the vortices shed from both sides of the rotor is measured by means of hot-wire flow velocity meters.

Aerodynamic Loads on a Stationary Savonius Rotor
The discrete vortex method was used to provide detailed information on the flowfield and starting torque on a stationary Savonius rotor. The rotor position normal to the wind was selected to examine the local flow properties on and around its ...

An Experimental Study on the Darrieus-Savonius Turbine for the Tidal Current Power Generation
The Darrieus turbine is popular for tidal current power generation in Japan. It is simple in structure with straight wings rotating around a vertical axis, so that it has no directionality against the motion of tidal flow which changes its direction ...
