The influence of the farming system on harvest of apple trees orchard and chemical composition of apples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Research of apple productivity and quality was carried out in organic and intensive farming in northern and central Lithuania gardens. Standard analysis and several new methods were used to analyse apple productivity and quality. Apples grown in the same

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Characterization of Olive-Resistant Genes Against Spilocaea oleagina, the Causal Agent of Scab

open access: yesAgronomy
The olive tree (Olea europaea subsp. europaea L.) is one of the most important perennial crops in the Mediterranean Basin. Olive Scab, caused by the fungal species Spilocaea oleagina, a member of the Venturiaceae family, is among the most significant ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Breeding a New Apple Hybrid Population with the Vf Gene Through Marker-Assisted Selection

open access: yesBulletin of University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca: Horticulture
Apple scab, caused by Venturia inaequalis, is one of the most damaging pathogens affecting apple species. Cross combinations were made between the Salva cv. (female parent), a valuable local cultivar known for its fruit quality and used as a donor of the

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

ANALYSIS OF GENETIC POLYMORPHISM FOR SCAB RESISTANT COWPEA VARIETIES USING SSR AND SNP MARKERS

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Molecular Biology
Cowpea scab disease, caused by Sphaceloma sp., significantly reduces yield. This study screened nine cowpea varieties for resistance to scab using both phenotypic and molecular markers (SSR and SNP).

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Metabolomic datasets of an apple progeny carrying resistance quantitative trait loci to apple scab before or after inoculation of the pathogen Venturia inaequalisentrepot.recherche.data.gouv.fr

open access: yesData in Brief
Phytosanitary treatments are massively used in orchards to fight apple scab, a disease caused by the fungus Venturia inaequalis (Vi). To reduce these treatments, resistant varieties are largely deployed but their effectiveness can decrease over time. The
