UV-complete 4-derivative scalar field theory

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
A scalar field theory with 4-derivative kinetic terms and 4-derivative cubic and quartic couplings is presented as a proxy for quantum quadratic gravity (QQG).

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A Real Scalar Field Unifying the Early Inflation and the Late Accelerating Expansion of the Universe through a Quadratic Equation of State: The Vacuumon

open access: yesUniverse, 2022
In a previous paper we introduced a cosmological model describing the early inflation, the intermediate decelerated expansion, and the late accelerating expansion of the universe in terms of a single barotropic fluid characterized by a quadratic equation

Scalar fields and the FLRW singularity [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2019
Abstract The dynamics of multiple scalar fields on a flat FLRW spacetime can be described entirely as a relational system in terms of the matter alone. The matter dynamics is an autonomous system from which the geometrical dynamics can be inferred, and this autonomous system remains deterministic at the point corresponding to the ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Phase-Space Analysis of an Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet Scalar Field Cosmology

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
We perform a detailed study of the phase-space of the field equations of an Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet scalar field cosmology for a spatially flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker spacetime.

Revisiting the Carrollian scalar field

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2022
We investigate the (conformally coupled) scalar field on a general Carrollian spacetime in arbitrary dimension. The analysis discloses electric and magnetic dynamics. For both, we provide the energy and the momenta of the field, accompanied by their conservation equations.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Affinity for scalar fields to dissipate [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2001
The zero temperature effective equation of motion is derived for a scalar field interacting with other fields. For a broad range of cases, involving interaction with as few as one or two fields, dissipative regimes are found for the scalar field system.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
