Spontaneous electro-weak symmetry breaking and cold dark matter

open access: yes, 2006
In the standard model, the weak gauge bosons and fermions obtain mass after spontaneous electro-weak symmetry breaking, which is realized through one fundamental scalar field, namely Higgs field.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Unified Dark Energy-Dark Matter model with Inverse Quintessence

open access: yes, 2013
We consider a model where both dark energy and dark matter originate from the coupling of a scalar field with a non-conventional kinetic term to, both, a metric measure and a non-metric measure.

Flat central density profile and constant dark matter surface density in galaxies from scalar field dark matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Using the scalar field dark matter (SFDM) model, it is proposed that galaxies form by con- densation of a scalar field (SF) very early in the Universe, forming Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) drops (i.e.

Interacting scalar fields: Dark matter and early dark energy

open access: yesPhysical Review D
The main aim of this work is to explore the possibility that cold dark matter (CDM) and early dark energy (EDE) can be described by canonical scalar fields that are coupled at the level of its conservation equations. The formalism covers dynamical aspects at the background and linear perturbation levels for an arbitrary coupling function, followed by ...

The effect of salubrinal on the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway in heat‐stressed spermatogonial cells in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigates the protective role of salubrinal against heat‐induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in mouse spermatogenic cells (GC1 and GC2). By modulating the ER stress pathway, salubrinal alleviates cellular stress and supports spermatogenic cell survival, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic candidate for heat‐related infertility.

Model for a Universe described by a non-minimally coupled scalar field and interacting dark matter

open access: yes, 2006
In this work it is investigated the evolution of a Universe where a scalar field, non-minimally coupled to space-time curvature, plays the role of quintessence and drives the Universe to a present accelerated expansion.

Scalar field dark matter mass model and evolution of rotation curves for low surface brightness galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the evolution of gas rotation curves within the scalar field dark matter (SFDM) model. In this model, the galactic haloes are astronomical Bose–Einstein condensate drops of scalar field (SF).
