The Schr\"odinger Formalism of Electromagnetism and Other Classical Waves --- How to Make Quantum-Wave Analogies Rigorous

open access: yes, 2017
This paper systematically develops the Schr\"odinger formalism that is valid also for gyrotropic media where the material weights $W = \left ( \begin{smallmatrix} \varepsilon & \chi \chi^* & \mu \end{smallmatrix} \right ) \neq \overline{W}$ are complex ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Surface Operators in N=2 4d Gauge Theories

open access: yes, 2009
N=2 four dimensional gauge theories admit interesting half BPS surface operators preserving a (2,2) two dimensional SUSY algebra. Typical examples are (2,2) 2d sigma models with a flavor symmetry which is coupled to the 4d gauge fields.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Prediction Model for Etiologic Differentiation of Isolated Vestibular Syndrome in Emergency Settings

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for differentiating central from peripheral etiologies in patients with isolated vestibular syndrome (VS). Methods In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, 506 patients with isolated VS from five hospitals were divided into derivation (n = 301) and validation (n = 205)

Lessons Learned: Quality Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuromyelitis Optica

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Optical coherence tomography (OCT)‐derived retina measurements are markers for neuroaxonal visual pathway status. High‐quality OCT scans are essential for reliable measurements, but their acquisition is particularly challenging in eyes with severe visual impairment, as often observed in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders ...

Essential self-adjointness of Schroedinger type operators on manifolds

open access: yes, 2002
We obtain several essential self-adjointness conditions for a Schroedinger type operator D*D+V acting in sections of a vector bundle over a manifold M. Here V is a locally square-integrable bundle map.

Inverse spectral theory for symmetric operators with several gaps: scalar-type Weyl functions

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 2005
\textit{M. G. Kreǐn} investigated in [Mat. Sb., N. Ser. 20(62), 431--495 (1947; Zbl 0029.14103)] the spectrum of self-adjoint extensions \(\tilde S\) within a gap \(J\) of a densely defined symmetric operator \(S\) with finite deficiency indices. The result was generalized by \textit{J. F. Brasche, H. Neidhardt} and \textit{J. Weidmann} in [Math.

Insights Into the Antigenic Repertoire of Unclassified Synaptic Antibodies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective We sought to characterize the sixth most common finding in our neuroimmunological laboratory practice (tissue assay‐observed unclassified neural antibodies [UNAs]), combining protein microarray and phage immunoprecipitation sequencing (PhIP‐Seq). Methods Patient specimens (258; 133 serums; 125 CSF) meeting UNA criteria were profiled;

The Inverse Seesaw Mechanism in Noncommutative Geometry

open access: yes, 2009
In this publication we will implement the inverse Seesaw mechanism into the noncommutative framework on the basis of the AC-extension of the Standard Model.
