AutoFocus: Efficient Multi-Scale Inference [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2019
This paper describes AutoFocus, an efficient multi-scale inference algorithm for deep-learning based object detectors. Instead of processing an entire image pyramid, AutoFocus adopts a coarse to fine approach and only processes regions which are likely to contain small objects at finer scales.

Production and scale efficiency of South African water utilities: the case of water boards

open access: yesWater Policy, 2021
South Africa is a water scarce country with deteriorating water resources. Faced with tight fiscal and water resource constraints, water utilities would have to adopt technically efficient water management technologies to meet developmental socio ...

EFFICIENT ROUTING ON SCALE-FREE NETWORKS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2007
The nodes with the largest degree are very susceptible to traffic congestion, thus an effective way to improve traffic and control congestion can be redistributing traffic load in hub nodes to others. We proposed an efficient routing strategy, which can remarkably enhance the network throughput. In addition, by using detrended fluctuation analysis, we

NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Ultrabroadband, achromatic, and non-diffracting perfect optical vortex generation via radial momentum control in dielectric metasurfaces

open access: yesNature Communications
Optical vortices, beams that carry a twist, are pivotal in advanced technologies like optical manipulation, optical communications and imaging. However, their utility has been hampered by a fundamental limitation: the size and spread of the beam change ...

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Complex Grid Computing

open access: yes, 2005
This article investigates the performance of grid computing systems whose interconnections are given by random and scale-free complex network models. Regular networks, which are common in parallel computing architectures, are also used as a standard for ...
