Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Anomalous behavior of trapping on a fractal scale-free network

open access: yes, 2009
It is known that the heterogeneity of scale-free networks helps enhancing the efficiency of trapping processes performed on them. In this paper, we show that transport efficiency is much lower in a fractal scale-free network than in non-fractal networks.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Measuring technical efficiency of state-owned enterprises in Asia Pacific and European regions: a data envelopment analysis

open access: yesCogent Business & Management
This paper asseses the efficiency of the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in Asia-Pacific and European regions by adapting a non-parametric analysis, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to compute technical efficiency (TE).

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Factors Affecting the Productivity of Non-Metallic Minerals Industry during the Third Plan [PDF]

open access: yesمدیریت صنعتی, 2012
Although economic and managerial literature is replete with studies that probe about productivity but only a few studies decompose it to its components (technological changes, managerial efficiency changes and scale efficiency changes)and analysis their ...

Cost efficiency and UK building societies. An econometric panel-data study employing a flexible fourier functional form [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The paper empirically quantifies firm specific 'distribution free' cost efficiency, economies of scale and economies of scope in the UK building society sector between 1990-1995. Both a flexible Fourier and a translog functional form are employed with

Integrating static and dynamic information for routing traffic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The efficiency of traffic routing on complex networks can be reflected by two key measurements i.e. the system capacity and the average data packets travel time.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
