Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Tests regarding parameters of several independent gamma populations [PDF]

open access: yes
Gamma distribution has been used with considerable success in reliability studies and life testing experiments. This distribution assumes various forms as its shape parameter varies which makes it suitable for analyzing a variety of lifetime data.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Scaling of ELM crash parameters

open access: yes, 2018
IntroductionEdge localized modes (ELMs) are periodically occurring instabilities that cause fast relaxations of the strong edge pressure gradient in the high-confinement regime (H-mode) of tokamak fusion plasmas [1]. These crashes induce intense heat fluxes towards the divertor tiles. Thisis a major concern for future fusion devices like ITER [2].

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Steady state response of functionally graded nano-beams resting on viscous foundation to super-harmonic

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2016
This article attempts to investigate the effects of small scale parameter on steady state response of functionally graded nano-beams resting on a viscous foundation to super-harmonic excitation.

"Patterns of Non-exponential Growth of Macroeconomic Models: Two-parameter Poisson-Dirichlet Models" [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper discusses non-exponential growth patterns of macroeconomic models. More specifically, the paper discusses asymptotic growth patterns of the numbers of clusters and of components of partition vectors, that is, the number of clusters of specific

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

On the ABLUE of the scale parameter of the generalized Pareto distribution

open access: yesTamkang Journal of Mathematics, 2000
We study the asymptotic best linear unbiased estimation of the scale parameter of the generalized Pareto distribution (GPD) with the probability density function (p.d.f.)$$ f(x)=\left\{\begin{array}{ll} \sigma^{-1}(1-rx/\sigma)^{1/r-1},~~&r\not=0 \\ \sigma^{-1}\exp(-x/\sigma),~~&r=0. \end{array}\right.$$In Cheng and Chou (2000), the best linear
