Renewed empirical formulas for estimating Weibull distribution parameters

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика
The empirical formulas proposed in the literature for estimating the parameters of a two-parameter Weibull distribution, obtained using the equations of the moment method, are considered. It is noted that the formulas used to estimate the shape parameter

Estimation of the Scale Parameter of Cauchy Distribution Using Absolved Order Statistics

open access: yesStatistica, 2023
A new set of ordered random variables generated from a sample from a scale dependent Cauchy distribution known as Absolved Order Statistics (AOS) of the sample forms the problem of investigation in this paper.

Scale Parameters: A Bayesian Treatment

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1981
Summary A definition of a scale parameter ϕ is given which includes the usual definition of a scale parameter in the exponential family. Some suggestions for the estimation of ϕ and approximations to the marginal posterior distribution of θ, a vector-valued parameter of primary interest, are made.

Guidelines for Pediatric Radiotherapy Simulation: A Report From the Children's Oncology Group Radiation Oncology Discipline

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric radiation therapy presents unique challenges compared to adult treatments, including those of immobilization, potential need for sedation, and the critical importance of accurate, reproducible positioning. Additionally, heightened attention to imaging doses is necessary to minimize long‐term toxicity in survivors.

Linking the Weibull distribution to Gini coefficients: a bamboo specific framework for intra-culm leaf area inequality

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Quantifying inequality in the leaf area distribution within a single module is critical for elucidating plant resource allocation strategies, but the accuracy of theoretical Gini coefficients derived from statistical distributions remains poorly ...

Parameter inference for enzyme and temperature constrained genome-scale models

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The metabolism of all living organisms is dependent on temperature, and therefore, having a good method to predict temperature effects at a system level is of importance.

Admixture Mapping Reveals Candidate Regions for Methotrexate Neurotoxicity Susceptibility: A Reducing Disparities in Acute Leukemia Consortium Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurotoxicity is a rare, often dose‐limiting adverse effect of methotrexate (MTX) therapy that disproportionally affects Latino children. Factors contributing to the observed disparity are not well understood. This study leveraged admixture mapping to identify genetic regions associated with MTX‐related neurotoxicity susceptibility ...

Phase Angle as an Early Functional Biomarker of Cancer‐Related Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low‐and middle‐income countries. Cancer treatment may impair nutritional status, alter body composition, and exacerbate cancer‐related fatigue (CRF).

Technical Note: The horizontal scale dependence of the cloud overlap parameter α [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2014
The cloud overlap parameter α relates the combined cloud fraction between two altitude levels in a grid box to the cloud fraction as derived under the maximum and random overlap assumptions. In a number of published studies in this and other journals, it

Acute Neurological Events in Children With Hemoglobin SC Disease: A Multicenter Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neurological manifestations in children with hemoglobin SC (HbSC) disease remain insufficiently characterized, particularly regarding acute events. The aim of this study was to describe the spectrum and frequency of acute neurological events in a multicenter cohort of children with HbSC disease.
