Parameter‐adaptive nighttime image enhancement with multi‐scale decomposition

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2016
As a challenging problem, image enhancement plays an important role in computer vision applications and has been widely studied. As one of the most difficult issues of image enhancement, outdoor nighttime image enhancement suffers from noise ...

One-Bit Quantization and Distributed Detection with an Unknown Scale Parameter

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2015
We examine a distributed detection problem in a wireless sensor network, where sensor nodes collaborate to detect a Gaussian signal with an unknown change of power, i.e., a scale parameter.

An empirical analysis of the shift and scale parameters in BatchNorm

open access: yesInformation Sciences, 2023
Batch Normalization (BatchNorm) is a technique that improves the training of deep neural networks, especially Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). It has been empirically demonstrated that BatchNorm increases performance, stability, and accuracy, although the reasons for such improvements are unclear.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Bayesian Generalized Self Method to Estimate Scale Parameter of Invers Rayleigh Distribution

open access: yesCauchy: Jurnal Matematika Murni dan Aplikasi, 2021
The purposes of this study are to estimate the scale parameter of Invers Rayleigh distribution under MLE and Bayesian Generalized square error loss function (SELF).

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Renewed empirical formulas for estimating Weibull distribution parameters

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика
The empirical formulas proposed in the literature for estimating the parameters of a two-parameter Weibull distribution, obtained using the equations of the moment method, are considered. It is noted that the formulas used to estimate the shape parameter

Inference in two-piece location-scale models with Jeffreys priors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper addresses the use of Jeffreys priors in the context of univariate threeparameter location-scale models, where skewness is introduced by differing scale parameters either side of the location.

Wavelet estimation of a local long memory parameter

open access: yes, 2000
There are a number of estimators of a long-memory process’ long-memory parameter when the parameter is assumed to hold constant over the entire data set, but currently no estimator exists for a time-varying long-memory parameter.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
