GUT-scale inflation with sizeable tensor modes
A sizeable tensor-to-scalar ratio, such as recently claimed by BICEP2, would imply a scale of inflation at the typical scale of supersymmetric grand unification. This could be an accident, or strong support for supersymmetric theories.

Analytic Solutions to the RG Equations of the Neutrino Physical Parameters [PDF]
In the case of two generation neutrinos, the energy-scale dependence of the lepton-flavor mixing matrix with Majorana phase can be governed by only one parameter r, which is the ratio between the diagonal elements of neutrino mass matrix.

Moving in the Dark: Enlightening the Spatial Population Ecology of European Cave Salamanders
We assessed individual interactions, movement ecology and activity patterns of a subterranean population of Speleomantes strinatii, applying spatial capture–recapture modeling to a photographic dataset of 104 individuals. ABSTRACT Space use and movement are fundamental aspects of organisms' ecology, mirroring individual fitness, behavior, and life ...

Design and test of a prototype scale ejector wing [PDF]
A two dimensional momentum integral analysis was used to examine the effect of changing inlet area ratio, diffuser area ratio, and the ratio of ejector length to width. A relatively wide range of these parameters was considered.

Aspect ratio dependence of heat transfer and large-scale flow in turbulent convection
The heat transport and corresponding changes in the large-scale circulation (LSC) in turbulent Rayleigh-B\'{e}nard convection are studied by means of three-dimensional direct numerical simulations as a function of the aspect ratio $\Gamma$ of a closed ...

Interval and Ratio Scaling of Spectral Audio Descriptors
Two experiments were conducted for the derivation of psychophysical scales of the following audio descriptors: spectral centroid, spectral spread, spectral skewness, odd-to-even harmonic ratio, spectral deviation, and spectral slope. The stimulus sets of each audio descriptor were synthesized and (wherever possible) independently controlled through ...

Rayleigh-Benard Convection in Large-Aspect-Ratio Domains
The coarsening and wavenumber selection of striped states growing from random initial conditions are studied in a non-relaxational, spatially extended, and far-from-equilibrium system by performing large-scale numerical simulations of Rayleigh-B\'{e}nard
