Detailed kinship estimation for detecting bias among breeding families in a reintroduced population of the endangered bagrid catfish Tachysurus ichikawai

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
In the process of captive breeding and reintroduction of endangered animal species, it is crucial to minimize familial bias in reproductive success during the reintroduction phase to preserve genetic diversity. In this study, we attempted to identify the familial lineage of individuals of the endangered bagrid fish Tachysurus ichikawai born at the ...

Aspect ratio dependence of heat transfer and large-scale flow in turbulent convection

open access: yes, 2010
The heat transport and corresponding changes in the large-scale circulation (LSC) in turbulent Rayleigh-B\'{e}nard convection are studied by means of three-dimensional direct numerical simulations as a function of the aspect ratio $\Gamma$ of a closed ...

Predictions for orientifold field theories from type 0' string theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Two predictions about finite-N non-supersymmetric "orientifold field theories" are made by using the dual type 0' string theory on C^3 / Z_2 x Z_2 orbifold singularity.

Simultaneous M-estimator of the common location and the scale-ratio in the two-sample problem

open access: yes, 1982
For the two-sample problem with the common location and possibly different scale parameters, a general class of M-estimators for the common location and the scale-ratio is considered. Along with a general linearity theorem, the asymptotic distribution of

Optimal SNP filtering strategies for pedigree reconstruction: A case study with wild red‐spotted masu salmon population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
In this article, we tested optimal SNP filtering strategies for accurate parentage assignment and pedigree reconstruction for a wild population of red‐spotted masu salmon, Oncorhynchus masou ishikawae. We found that mid‐point filtering in terms of call rate and minor allele frequency performs well for pedigree reconstruction.

On generalized scaling laws with continuously varying exponents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of physics A, Volume 35, Number 49, P 10531, 2002, 2002
Many physical systems share the property of scale invariance. Most of them show ordinary power-law scaling, where quantities can be expressed as a leading power law times a scaling function which depends on scaling-invariant ratios of the parameters.

Design and test of a prototype scale ejector wing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A two dimensional momentum integral analysis was used to examine the effect of changing inlet area ratio, diffuser area ratio, and the ratio of ejector length to width. A relatively wide range of these parameters was considered.

Influence of the atomic-scale inhomogeneity of the pair interaction on extracted from the STM spectra characteristics of high-$T_c$ superconductors

open access: yes, 2008
The influence of the atomic-scale inhomogeneities of the pairing interaction strength on the superconducting order parameter and the conductance spectra measurable by STM is studied in the framework of weak-coupling BCS-like theory for two-dimensional ...

NLL Corrections for B-Meson Radiative Exclusive Decays [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We calculate the next-to-leading corrections to the branching ratio of exclusive $B\to K^* \gamma$ decay. The renormalization scale dependence is reduced compared to the leading logarithmic result but there remains a dependence on a cutoff parameter of ...

The association of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, platelet to lymphocyte ratio, and lymphocyte to monocyte ratio with post-thrombolysis early neurological outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2021
To investigate the association of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR) with post-thrombolysis early neurological outcomes including early neurological improvement (ENI) and early
