Linear scale-space theory is the fundamental building block for many approaches to image processing like pyramids or scale-selection. However, linear smoothing does not preserve image structures very well and thus non-linear techniques are mostly applied for image enhancement.

Land Quality, Development and Space: Does Scale Matter?
This study analyzes empirically the relationship between land quality decline and the spatial distribution of per capita income observed in Italy at different spatial scales and geographical divisions.

Sandpile model on an optimized scale-free network on Euclidean space
Deterministic sandpile models are studied on a cost optimized Barab\'asi-Albert (BA) scale-free network whose nodes are the sites of a square lattice. For the optimized BA network, the sandpile model has the same critical behaviour as the BTW sandpile ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Shape recognition using orientational and morphological scale‐spaces of curvatures
In this study, a scale‐invariant representation for closed planar curves (silhouettes) is proposed. The orientations of all points within the Gaussian scale‐space of the curve are extracted.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
