The natural history of periodontal disease—Part 2: In populations with access to dental care: The Studies of Health in Pomerania (SHIP)

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract In this descriptive analysis of the 21‐year follow‐up data from the SHIP‐START cohort and the 7‐year follow‐up data from the SHIP‐TREND cohort, we report the progression of clinical attachment levels (CAL), age effects on CAL change, and a detailed description of CAL progression and remission. At baseline, 4307 and 4420 persons participated in

Low-temperature smoothing method of scalloped DRIE trench by post-dry etching process based on SF6 plasma

open access: yesMicro and Nano Systems Letters, 2020
Deep reactive-ion etching (DRIE) is commonly used for high aspect ratio silicon micromachining. However, scalloping, which is the result of the alternating Bosch process of DRIE, can cause many problems in the subsequent process and degrade device ...

De novo assembly and characterization of two transcriptomes reveal multiple light-mediated functions in the scallop eye (Bivalvia: Pectinidae). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: The eye has evolved across 13 separate lineages of molluscs. Yet, there have been very few studies examining the molecular machinary underlying eye function of this group, which is due, in part, to a lack of genomic resources.

Two Routes to Land: Genomic Underpinnings of Parallel Aerial Egg Deposition in Aquatic Old‐World Pila and New‐World Pomacea (Ampullariidae)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Comparative genomics of Gondwana‐diverged Pila and Pomacea reveals parallel evolution of aerial oviposition. Convergent chromosomal rearrangements reshape regulatory landscapes within topologically associating domains. Lineage‐specific gene family expansions and viral‐derived perivitelline proteins (PV1) underpin desiccation resistance.

A Wireless 3D Magneto‐Mechanical Stimulation Platform Drives In Situ Chondrogenic Commitment of Endogenous MSCs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An intracellular magneto‐mechanical platform utilizing MSC‐targeted nanomotors is developed. After intra‐articular delivery, these nanomotors target endogenous BMSCs and are actuated within lysosomes to execute trans‐planar rotational‐bouncing motions under a rotating‐fluctuating 3D magnetic field, generating amplified mechanical stimulation.

Nutrient comparisons among the noble scallops Chlamys nobilis with three different shell colours to provide advices for consumers to choose high-quality food

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
IntroductionIn aquatic animals, colors not only reflect their sensory qualities but also affect their nutritional components and market price. Noble scallop Chlamys nobilis is an importantly economical bivalve cultured in the south sea of China and ...

Biomimetic Self‐Reconfigurable Soft Gripper for Cross‐Scale, Multi‐Particle, and High‐Load Multifunctional Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully soft, self‐reconfigurable gripper inspired by rapeseed flowers is monolithically 3D‐printed and electronics‐free, switching between diagonal and parallel finger arrangements. Establishing a self‐reconfigurable grasping paradigm, the gripper enables diverse manipulation tasks, including rotating bulbs, picking fruits, grasping cross‐scale ...

Research on scallop shells transport of the Yantai coastal region in the Bohai Sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
IntroductionBivalve aquaculture is an important pillar of China's fisheries, with over 1 million tonnes of scallop shells produced annually. However, most of these shells are directly discarded into the sea, leading to continuous pollution of the marine ...

Transcriptional Responses of Flavin-Containing Monooxygenase Genes in Scallops Exposed to PST-Producing Dinoflagellates Implying Their Involvements in Detoxification

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Flavin-containing monooxygenase (FMO) is one of the most prominent xenobiotic metabolic enzymes. It can catalyze the conversion of heteroatom-containing chemicals to polar, readily excretable metabolites and is considered an efficient detoxification ...
