Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Precipitation in Al-Zr-Sc alloys: a comparison between kinetic Monte Carlo, cluster dynamics and classical nucleation theory [PDF]
Zr and Sc precipitate in aluminum alloys to form the Al\_3Zr\_xSc\_{1-x} compound which, for low supersaturations of the solid solution, exhibits the L1\_2 structure.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Thermionic emission microscopy of scandium thin film dewetting on W(100)
Scandium thin films of 5-30 nm thickness deposited on clean W(100) surfaces de-wet from the tungsten surface when heated to temperatures < 0.5 Tmelt. The dewetting temperature and the resulting droplet size are a function of the initial scandium film ...

The electrical conductivity anisotropy of the sigma-bands is calculated for the (Mg,Sc)B2 system using a virtual crystal model. Our results reveal that anisotropy drops with relatively little scandium content (< 30%); this behaviour coincides with the ...

Previously unreported decay characteristics of 51Sc are studied. The activity was obtained from a series of bombardments of an enriched 48Ca target (in the carbonate form) with 18 MeV α particles, β ray measurement of the investigated sample indicated a component of ~ 5 MeV endpoint energy which decays with a half life of 12 sec.

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Solvent extraction of Sc(III) from sulfuric acid solution by bis (2-ethylhexyl) phosphinic acid in toluene [PDF]
Liquid-liquid extraction of scandium(III) from sulfuric acid solution using bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphinic acid (PIA-8) in toluene has been studied. The extraction of scandium(III) was found to be quantitative with 0.03 M PIA-8 in toluene in the acidic ...
