Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Standardization of surface potential measurements of graphene domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We compare the three most commonly used scanning probe techniques to obtain a reliable value of the work function in graphene domains of different thickness.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Plant cell wall characterization using scanning probe microscopy techniques

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2009
Lignocellulosic biomass is today considered a promising renewable resource for bioenergy production. A combined chemical and biological process is currently under consideration for the conversion of polysaccharides from plant cell wall materials, mainly ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Scanning Gate Spectroscopy on Nanoclusters

open access: yes, 1999
A gated probe for scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) has been developed. The probe extends normal STM operations by means of an additional electrode fabricated next to the tunnelling tip.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Antibiotic Adverse Reactions and Drug Interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) offers a unique insight into the nanoscopic scale domain structures of magnetic materials. However, MFM is generally regarded as a qualitative technique and, therefore, requires meticulous calibration of the magnetic ...
