Scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy of graphene on metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Graphene, a two‐dimensional (2D) material with unique electronic properties, appears to be an ideal object for the application of surface‐science methods.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

High-Resolution Two-Dimensional Imaging of the 4H-SiC MOSFET Channel by Scanning Capacitance Microscopy

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
In this paper, a two-dimensional (2D) planar scanning capacitance microscopy (SCM) method is used to visualize with a high spatial resolution the channel region of large-area 4H-SiC power MOSFETs and estimate the homogeneity of the channel length over ...

Mechanisms of electromechanical coupling in strain based scanning probe microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Electromechanical coupling is ubiquitous in nature and underpins the functionality of materials and systems as diverse as ferroelectric and multiferroic materials, electrochemical devices, and biological systems, and strain-based scanning probe ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

STM Studies of Synthetic Peptide Monolayers

open access: yes, 1998
We have used scanning probe microscopy to investigate self-assembled monolayers of chemically synthesized peptides. We find that the peptides form a dense uniform monolayer, above which is found a sparse additional layer.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Contact resonance frequencies and their harmonics in scanning probe microscopy

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2021
Local characterizations of electric, magnetic, mechanical, electrochemical, and structural properties of materials by scanning probe microscopy (SPM) can be carried out by sensing variations of the contact cantilever's resonance frequencies, resulting in
