A general methodology and key metrics for scatternet formation in Bluetooth
Global Telecommunications Conference, 2002. GLOBECOM '02. IEEE, 2003To fully exploit the capabilities of Bluetooth for the deployment of wireless ad-hoc networks, the scatternet concept has been proposed. A scatternet is constituted by an overlapping of simple structures called piconets, each composed of up to eight devices sharing the same radio channel.

A Bluetooth group-scatternet formation algorithm for efficient routing
2003 International Conference on Parallel Processing Workshops, 2003. Proceedings., 2004A novel algorithm, called group-scatternet formation algorithm (GSFA), is proposed for scatternet construction. GSFA consists of two phases, piconet formation and group scatternet formation. An efficient routing protocol based on the resulting scatternet of GSFA is also presented. The experimental results show that two-group and three-group scatternets

Formation, routing, and maintenance protocols for the BlueRing scatternet of Bluetooths
36th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2003. Proceedings of the, 2003The basic networking unit in Bluetooth is piconet, and a larger-area Bluetooth network can be formed by multiple piconets, called scatternet. However, the structure of scatternets is not defined in the Bluetooth specification and remains as an open issue at the designers' choice.

Bluetooth Scatternet Formation Performance: Simulations vs. Testbeds
MILCOM 2006, 2006Bluepleiades is a bluetooth scatternet formation protocol which has been proven to perform well both analytically and by simulations. In this paper we present the implementation of Bluepleiades on two distinct platforms: the DBT-120 and the BTnodes. Our testbed shows that Bluepleiades can be implemented in practice but exhibits decreased performance in

Bluetooth Scatternet Formation – State of the Art and a New Approach
2004The emerging radio technology Bluetooth offers configuration- and administration-free ad hoc networking between mobile terminals. A simple so-called Bluetooth piconet consisting of up to eight active devices can easily be formed with products available today.

On Scatternet Formation in Bluetooth Networks using Fuzzy Logic
2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007Bluetooth is a prominent technology to construct a wireless personal area network. Recently, many scatternet formation schemes have been proposed to connect piconets and form a scatternet. Past studies have pointed out that appropriate role selection can improve the network performance and reduce the communication delay.

Programmable agents for efficient topology formation of Bluetooth scatternets
International Journal of Wireless and Mobile Computing, 2010Recent years saw a significant number of efforts aimed at the efficient creation of Scatternets: multi-hop Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN) created by means of Bluetooth technology that allows users to seamlessly exchange information. We present a novel solution to the Scatternet formation problem by means of mobile programs that help realise our

Cube Connected Cycles Based Bluetooth Scatternet Formation
2005Bluetooth is a wireless communication standard developed for personal area networks (PAN) that gained popularity in the last years. It was designed to connect a few devices together, however nowadays there is a need to build larger networks. Construction and maintenance algorithms have great effect on performance of the network. We present an algorithm

Dynamical algorithm for multi-hop Bluetooth scatternet formation
2008 12th International Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design, 2008Bluetooth scatternet has become one important research field of ad hoc networking since it potentially has the wide and extensive applications. The special constraints and characteristics of Bluetooth scatternet present great challenges in constructing efficiently the topology of scatternet and routing in the network.
