Individual Variation in Predatory Behavior, Scavenging and Seasonal Prey Availability as Potential Drivers of Coexistence between Wolves and Bears

open access: yesDiversity, 2020
Several large carnivore populations are recovering former ranges, and it is important to understand interspecific interactions between overlapping species. In Scandinavia, recent research has reported that brown bear presence influences gray wolf habitat

Influence of Humidity, Temperature and Radicals on the Formation and Thermal Properties of Secondary Organic Aerosol (SOA) from Ozonolysis of β-pinene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The influence of water and radicals on SOAs produced by {\beta}-pinene ozonolysis was investigated at 298 and 288 K using a laminar flow reactor. A volatility tandem differential mobility analyzer (VTDMA) was used to measure the evaporation of the SOA, enabling the parameterization of its volatility properties.

Hierarchy of calibrated global models reveals improved distributions and fluxes of biogeochemical tracers in models with explicit representation of iron

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
Iron is represented in biogeochemical ocean models by a variety of structurally different approaches employing generally poorly constrained empirical parameterizations.

Power Processing Circuits for Mems Inertial Energy Scavengers [PDF]

open access: yesDans Symposium on Design, Test, Integration and Packaging of MEMS/MOEMS - DTIP 2006, Stresa, Lago Maggiore : Italie (2006), 2007
Inertial energy scavengers are self-contained devices which generate power from ambient motion, by electrically damping the internal motion of a suspended proof mass. There are significant challenges in converting the power generated from such devices to useable form, particularly in micro-engineered variants.

Enriching particles on a bubble through drainage: Measuring and modeling the concentration of microbial particles in a bubble film at rupture

open access: yesElementa: Science of the Anthropocene, 2017
The concentration of microbes and other particulates is frequently enriched in the droplets produced by bursting bubbles. As a bubble rises to the ocean surface, particulates in the bulk liquid can be transported to the sea surface microlayer by ...

Scavenger 0.1: A Theorem Prover Based on Conflict Resolution [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
This paper introduces Scavenger, the first theorem prover for pure first-order logic without equality based on the new conflict resolution calculus. Conflict resolution has a restricted resolution inference rule that resembles (a first-order generalization of) unit propagation as well as a rule for assuming decision literals and a rule for deriving new
