Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

EVALUATION OF WORLD ENERGY SCENARIOS

open access: yesVestnik MGIMO-Universiteta, 2016
What are the future global systems developments? It remains one the biggest unknown, especially in terms of energy, as it is globally considered as both cause and solution for multiple problems of the humanity. Therefore, nowadays a number of experts are

Parameterized Dataflow Scenarios [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 2015
Although well-suited for capturing concurrency in streaming applications, purely dataflow-based models of computation are lacking in expressing intricate control requirements that many modern streaming applications have. Consequently, a number of modeling approaches combining dataflow and finite-state machines has been proposed.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Food System Scenarios in Uncertain Futures: A Case Study on Long-Term Local Food System Planning in Revelstoke, Canada

open access: yesAgriculture
Scenario planning is a potentially effective method for supporting long-term planning for sustainable and resilient food systems; however, scenario exercises are often limited by too much focus on a single preferred future, not accounting for uncertainty

Merging Scenarios

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2005
AbstractThis paper proposes a merge operator for behavioral requirements expressed by Message Sequence Charts and shows how this product can be systematically used to integrate new behaviors in an existing one. First the merge operator is defined as a fibered product of scenario descriptions. This product is then used to integrate a consensus mechanism

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Design of an Efficient Model for Psychological Disease Analysis and Prediction Using Machine Learning and Genomic Data Samples

open access: yesBig Data and Cognitive Computing
There is a rapid growth in mental disorders, thus leading to a pressing demand for more sophisticated diagnosis techniques. Clinical assessments and symptomatic analyses for traditional diagnostics suffer from subjectivity, delayed diagnosis, and ...
