Kant and the different Faces of the skeptic [PDF]

open access: yesIdeas y Valores, 2005
In this paper I suggest that in order to avoid some of the difficulties to which the contemporary discussion on the transcendental arguments has led we must discriminate different ways of understanding the sceptic’s challenge that Kant faces in the ...

Organ‐Specific and Conserved Regulatory Logic Orchestrates Gene Expression in the Embryonic Mesothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omic profiling maps the gene‐regulatory landscape of the coelomic mesothelium across heart, lung, and pancreas. A cardiac‐restricted regulatory program is uncovered in which TBX20 activates heart mesothelial (epicardial) cis‐regulatory elements, while MAF emerges as a conserved regulator of mesothelial identity.

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...

Thomas Reid, Hume and theology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Joe Houston unfolds the subtlety of some of the fundamental aspects of Thomas Reid’s response to Hume’s scepticism and religious agnosticism. He discusses Hume’s awareness of the tension between scepticism and daily life; his foundationalist notions of ...

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

Sport-for-Change: Some Thoughts from a Sceptic

open access: yesSocial Inclusion, 2015
Sport’s historic attraction for policy makers has been its claims that it can offer an economy of remedies to seemingly intractable social problems—“social inclusion”, “development”.

The Philosopher"s Garden: Scepticism within (and from without) Wittgenstein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
I am sitting with a philosopher in the garden; he says again and again "I know that that"s a tree, pointing to a tree that is near us. Someone else arrives and hears this, and I tell him: "This fellow isn"t insane. We are only doing philosophy.

Traction Force Microscopy for Viscoelastic Substrates: A Semi‐Analytical Method

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A semi‐analytical viscoelastic traction force microscopy framework is introduced for quantifying time‐resolved cell tractions on flat finite‐thickness substrates. The method generalizes elastic traction force microscopy to Generalized Maxwell materials, identifies when elastic approximations remain valid and, when they do not, shows that inferred ...

INB3P: A Multi‐Modal and Interpretable Co‐Attention Framework Integrating Property‐Aware Explanations and Memory‐Bank Contrastive Fusion for Blood–Brain Barrier Penetrating Peptide Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
INB3P is a multimodal framework for blood–brain barrier‐penetrating peptide prediction under extreme data scarcity and class imbalance. By combining physicochemical‐guided augmentation, sequence–structure co‐attention, and imbalance‐aware optimization, it improves predictive performance and interpretability.
