The performance of rolling production schedules in a process industry

IIE Transactions, 1995
In this paper we study lot-sizing and changeover decisions in production schedules that are implemented on a rolling-horizon basis. The study is carried out by comparing production schedules for the packaging operations of a pharmaceutical company that produces various products on several capacitated production lines.

Optimal production and scheduling of a process with decaying catalyst

AIChE Journal, 2005
AbstractA multiperiod mixed‐integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) optimization model is presented to schedule catalyst changeovers and determine the best operating policy for a chemical process with decaying performance. Two solution strategies are proposed to reduce the effect of nonconvexities and to reduce the solution time: (1) a search strategy ...

Application of production planning and scheduling in the process industries

Computers in Industry, 1998
Information systems for production planning and scheduling in the process industries have to meet industry-specific demands. One of the most important requirements is the integration of all logistic systems and other systems, e.g., process control systems.

An integrated model of process planning and production scheduling

International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, 1994
Abstract Functional integration has taken the foreground in current manufacturing system development. Due to the fact that many of the functions in a manufacturing system are developing without a sense of integration, it becomes necessary that more importance be given to the integration of functions than the individual development of the functions ...

Scheduling a Single-Product Reentrant Process with Uniform Processing Times

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2000
Most semiconductor manufacturing involves multiple stages of batch/semicontinuous physicochemical operations. Scheduling of such plants becomes complex because of a high degree of reentrancy in their process flows, as different lots/batches as well as different tasks of the same lot compete for time on the various processing units at each stage ...

Reliability models and application in the process of production scheduling of mechanical products

2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010
The research based on the production scheduling process of mechanical products in the workshop, established the Petri nets model process of production scheduling process of mechanical products, and then established the basic concepts of reliability in the production scheduling process of mechanical products.

Production Planning and Scheduling of Parallel Continuous Processes

2018
In Chap. 4, a novel mathematical approach to the simultaneous production planning and scheduling of continuous parallel units producing a large number of final products that can be classified into product families is developed. This problem appears in many stages of operation in the process industries, including packing in batch and continuous ...

Production Scheduling in Multistage Semicontinuous Process Industries

2018
Part III focuses on food process industries that combine batch and continuous operation modes in their overall production plant. In Chap. 5, a mixed integer programming framework and a solution strategy are presented for the optimal production scheduling of multiproduct multistage semicontinuous process industries.
