Mathematical Analysis of Preventive Maintenance Schemes
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1980A new approach is proposed for the maximization of profit by optimal scheduling of machinery. Only one objective function (profit) is used instead of two (availability and cost). The latter approach inevitably resulted in suboptimization. In addition, the "single objective function" approach naturally lends itself to comparisons of efficiency between ...

Mathematical Lens: A Mathematical Pyramid Scheme
The Mathematics Teacher, 2011Students analyze a photograph to solve mathematical questions related to the images captured in the photograph. This month, the photographs are of a pyramid in Egypt, and students are asked to compute volume, slant height, and the ratio of the base of the pyramid to its height.

On general decomposition schemes in mathematical programming
1985Benders and Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition procedures for classical linear programming cases are generalized to produce a technique in ordered structures applicable to algebraic mathematical programs. The technique is based on general duality theory and is amenable to the solution of problems involving bottleneck, multi-criteria and fuzzy functions with ...

A physiological scheme and mathematical model of temperature regulation in man
Pflgers Archiv European Journal of Physiology, 1968Mean skin temperatures, rectal temperatures and sweat rates were measured on four highly acclimatised subjects. They were exposed for 180 min to 16 different combinations of 4 metabolic rates and 4 air temperatures, ranging from cold (10°C) to hot (49°C).

A New Relaxation Scheme for Mathematical Programs with Equilibrium Constraints
SIAM Journal on Optimization, 2010We present a new relaxation scheme for mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints (MPEC), where the complementarity constraints are replaced by a reformulation that is exact for the complementarity conditions corresponding to sufficiently nondegenerate complementarity components and relaxes only the remaining complementarity conditions.

Efficient Scheme of Mathematical Modeling Contest
2013This paper has analyzed the importance of the mathematical contest in modeling. The mathematical contest in modeling is able to improve the comprehensive abilities of the students. The paper has analyzed the students in the northwest universities during 2008–2010 and the circumstances of the participation in the mathematical context in modeling. At the

A mathematical model for wireless channel allocation and handoff schemes
Telecommunication Systems, 2010A mathematical model for analytical study on complete and partial channel allocation schemes is presented in this paper. Expression for the queue length distribution has been analytically derived. The mathematical model can be used for analysis of multiple call categories like new calls, handoff calls, delay tolerant or delay sensitive calls.

Data Handling in Primary Mathematics Schemes
Teaching Statistics, 1992The authors of this article are members of a subcommittee of the Mathematical Association's Teaching Committee. The subcommittee's brief is to prepare a pack of materials for primary school teachers to help them to teach Data Handling in the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2.

A New Regularization Scheme for Mathematical Programs with Complementarity Constraints
SIAM Journal on Optimization, 2009We propose a new regularization scheme for mathematical programs with complementarity constraints (MPCC) by relaxing all the constraints of the complementarity system. We show that, under the MPCC-linear independence constraint qualifications (MPCC-LICQ), the Lagrange multipliers exist for this regularization.
