Comparative Effects of Hycanthone in Schistosoma Mansoni and Schistosoma Japonicum
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1977After in vitro hycanthone treatment followed by a 20-hour incubation in drug-free medium, Schistosoma mansoni were still resistant to labeling by a fluorescent analog of acetylcholine. S. japonicum, in contrast with the hycanthone sensitive species, showed prompt reversal of the blocking effects of hycanthone on fluorescent labeling.

Schistosoma mansoni antigen detects Schistosoma mekongi infection
Acta Tropica, 2015Northern Cambodia and Southern Laos are highly endemic for Schistosoma mekongi. However, there is currently no immunological assay available that is specific for this form of schistosomiasis. We have validated Schistosoma mansoni antigens to detect S. mekongi-directed antibodies in human sera collected from a highly S.

Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma japonicum: Utilization of amino acids
International Journal for Parasitology, 1972Abstract Bruce J. I. , Ruff M. D. , Belusko R. J. and Werner J. K. 1972. Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma japonicum : utilization of amino acids. International Journal for Parasitology 2: 425–430. The production of 14 CO 2 from 12 labeled amino acids by S. mansoni and S. japonicum was studied.

Molecular phylogenetic position of Schistosoma sinensium in the genus Schistosoma
Journal of Helminthology, 2001The status of Schistosoma sinensium (samples from Thailand and from Sichuan, China) relative to other species of the genus Schistosoma was investigated using DNA sequences from the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1) gene (partial) and the nuclear ribosomal DNA second internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2).

Phosphomonoesterases of Schistosoma mansoni
Experimental Parasitology, 1963Abstract Extracts of adult Schistosoma mansoni were shown to contain high concentrations of both acid and alkaline phosphomonoesterases. In vitro investigations of the enzymes were made with regard to pH optima in different buffers, rates of hydrolysis of and affinities for several phosphomonoesters, stability, and response to activators and ...

Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma japonicum: Oxygen uptake by miracidia
Experimental Parasitology, 1971Abstract The respiration of miracidia of Schistosoma mansoni and the Japanese, Philippine, and Formosan strains of S. japonicum was measured in the presence and absence of 0.001 m glucose at 1 and 5 hr after hatching. Aging increased the oxygen consumption of miracidia of S. mansoni and the Japanese and Formosan strains of S. japonicum when

The Integument of Schistosoma Mansoni
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1969Abstract The structure of the integument of Schistosoma mansoni is described by histochemical and electron-microscopical study, and the effects of incubating adult schistosomes in buffered saline, thyoglycollic acid, horse-radish peroxidase, normal and immune serum are described.

Immunoregulation by Schistosoma mansoni
Immunopharmacology, 1981Schistosoma mansoni is known to release an inhibitory factor of lymphocyte proliferation elicited in vitro. The effect of this dialyzable schistosome incubation product (DSIP) was tested in vivo on different aspects of the cell-mediated immune response.

A comparison of some isoenzymes of schistosoma mansoni and schistosoma haematobium
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1970Abstract 1. 1. The electrophoretic separation is described for acid phosphatase, non-specific esterase, leucine amino peptidase, lactase, malate, α-glutamate, glucose-6-phosphate and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenases from adults of four populations of Schistosoma mansoni and one population of S. haematobium. 2. 2.

Production of Schistosoma haematobium and Schistosoma mansoni cercariae in Tanzania
Experimental Parasitology, 1967Abstract Few Schistosoma haematobium cercariae emerged in darkness, but large numbers did emerge when snails were illuminated after a period in darkness, and the pattern of output was modified in response to alterations in the cycle of illumination. A rise in temperature from 23 °–30 °C stimulated the cercariae to emerge, but the effect of heat was
